Ultimate Father’s Day Drinks for Dear Old Dad
Dear Dad, we don’t deserve you, and we know it. You taught us so much that no else could. Like how to throw a perfect spiral, how to tell a corny joke, (e.g. “Nice to meet you hungry, I’m Dad”), and how to budget our money (that one was easy, right?). And then along the way, us kids grew up. While we might miss the good ‘ole days, it’s even better now that we can sit back and have a brew or whiskey with you. So, this Father’s Day let’s celebrate with a drink just for you, Dad. We’ve come up with a list of delicious specialty drinks just for our awe-inspiring dads this Father’s Day. Cheers to you, Dad.
If he likes Vodka: Moscow Mule
This popular summer drink is as refreshing as it is tasty. It’s also incredibly easy to make. All you need is ginger beer, vodka, and lime juice. Simply, squeeze lime juice into a glass, add a few ice cubes, pour in 2 oz. of vodka and then add some cold ginger beer. The copper Moscow Mule mug is optional, but somehow it just completes the drink.
If he likes Rum: Painkiller
This twist on a Pina Colada is a sweet treat that is sure to take Dad to his happy place. For this drink, you will need rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut. First, pour 2 oz. of rum into a shaker, followed by 4 oz. of pineapple juice, 1 oz. of orange juice, and 1 oz. of cream of coconut. Then shake vigorously and pour into a glass over ice. If you prefer, garnish it with grated nutmeg and a pineapple wedge.
If he likes Whiskey: Whiskey Sour
Bourbon lovers rejoice! The whiskey sour is simple, sophisticated, and classic. Your ingredients include bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Just pour 2 oz. of whiskey, 1 oz. freshly-squeezed lemon juice, and 1 (one) teaspoon of sugar into a shaker. Then, fill with ice, shake for 20 seconds, and strain into a glass. Garnish with a cherry or orange slice if you’re feeling fancy.
If he likes Scotch: Godfather
Named after the 1970s film, The Godfather, this cocktail takes you back to the 1970s. Perhaps, you can’t refuse. And, it’s quite minimal because the only ingredients are Scotch and Amaretto. All you need to do is pour 2 oz. of Scotch, a 1/4 oz. of Amaretto, and add ice into a shaker. Then, shake well and strain into ice-filled glasses.
If he likes Gin: Cherry Gin and Tonic
This recipe is a sweeter, summer twist on the classic Gin and Tonic. You’ll need gin, cherry juice, limes, and tonic water. Just grab a glass and add three tablespoons of cherry juice, and then add ice and squeeze a lime in the cup. Then, top with 2 oz. of gin and 4 oz. of tonic. Now, you can stir it up and drink it down.
Try one or try them all. If cocktails aren’t his thing, it is always good to go with a nice bourbon or scotch. We also have cigars for the Dads that like to indulge a bit.
