Take a Trip Around the World with These Delicious Drinks

Traveling doesn’t have to mean jumping on a plane and venturing off into the sunset. Instead, why not taste all that the world has to offer from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re craving the flavors of Singapore or are vibing with something from a Manhattan bistro, cocktails can send your taste buds on an adventure. Experience libations from around the world with these delicious drinks:

Manhattan – New York

New York is the city that never sleeps, and the infamous Manhattan is the cocktail that keeps it awake. The roots of the Manhattan cocktail go back to the latter part of the 19th century.

Make this classic cocktail with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. The Manhattan got its name from where it originated, and it is one of the five cocktails named after the five New York City boroughs.

Pimm’s Cup – London

With a taste of a Pimm’s Cup, it is said that anyone can become royalty. This refreshing drink is the signature cocktail of the Wimbleton tournament, and rumor has it that it was served at Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953.

James Pimm invented Pimm’s cup sometime between 1823 and 1840. Pimm marketed the drink as a medicinal mixture that aided digestion, and that brought it wide appeal.

This sweet libation is made with Pimm’s No. 1, lemon juice, plenty of ice, and a garnish of cucumber slices, basil leaves, and strawberries. Enjoy Pimm’s Cup under the summer sun.

Irish Coffee – Ireland

If you’ve ever considered starting your morning off with a shot of something strong – giving you the courage to face your day – then you’re not alone. However, instead of slinging back a shot of whiskey, you may want to consider a nice, hot Irish coffee instead. It’s sure to leave you feeling alert and energetic.

Stanton Delaplane is credited with bringing this beverage to the United States between 1942 and 1943. Make his classic Irish coffee with hot coffee, Irish whisky, and sugar stirred and topped with cream. (It also makes a great winter libation.)

Pegu Club – Myanmar

If you are exhausted and wilting on a hot, sunny day, a Pegu Club is the refreshing pick-me-up that you need. This cocktail was first made in the colonial Pegu Club of Myanmar during the 1920s.

You make this delicious cocktail with gin, lime juice, orange curacao, sugar syrup, and orange bitters. Shake all the ingredients with crushed ice and then strain into a cocktail glass.

Matador – Mexico

When most people think of cocktails and Mexico, the margarita readily comes to mind. However, that’s not the only cocktail to trace its origin to Mexico. Step outside your comfort zone and get a little wild with the matador!

A matador combines tequila, pineapple juice, and lime juice. Shake these ingredients with ice and serve. Some variations even include sotol (another popular Mexican spirit) instead of tequila. This adds a kick of cilantro and a habanero tincture to the mix as well.
