Hot Boozy Drink Recipes to Warm You Up

Hot Boozy Drink Recipes to Warm You Up

It’s getting a bit chilly, which means it’s about time to curl up in front of your fireplace under a nice blanket and get warm.
You don’t have a fireplace or a nice comforter, you say? Well, that’s a shame, but it’s hardly something you can’t fix with a nice, warm drink. After all, there’s a time and a place for a cold beer, but right now, it’s not that time. So, let us introduce you to some of our favorite hot, boozy drink recipes to warm you up (until you can afford that nice fireplace).

1. Irish Coffee

There are few things better than a warm cup of coffee. We can think of one of them, though, and that is a nice, warm Irish coffee. The secret here is the Irish whiskey. Take a cup of hot coffee, add three tablespoons of Irish whiskey, a little bit of sugar, mix it all, and top it with some heavy, whipped cream. If you’re feeling fancy, add a dash of nutmeg on top of the cream. It doesn’t get any warmer or classier than a classic Irish coffee.

2. Mulled Wine

We’re not going to lie to you, making mulled wine takes a bit of time. However, it’s a great way to impress your guests, and it’s not as difficult as you’d imagine. Here’s what you’ll need to keep your party warm:

  • A bottle of red wine (preferably a Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • Two tablespoons of honey
  • Grapefruit peel
  • Orange peel
  • Two tablespoons of grated ginger
  • Half a tablespoon of peppercorns
  • Half a tablespoon of juniper berries
  • One cinnamon stick

First off, grind the berries and peppercorns and add them to a saucepan. Toast them for a few minutes until fragrant and, when you’re ready, add the wine and the rest of the ingredients. Now, let’s simmer all those ingredients together over medium heat. You can do this for as little as 15 minutes or up to 3 or 4 hours, depending on how much time you have, and how much you want the flavors to concentrate. Just don’t let your wine boil unless you want to burn off the alcohol! When you’re ready to serve, strain the spices, and drink up.

3. Hot White Russian

If you don’t have hours to mix some mulled wine, we’ve got you covered with a simple, delicious, hot White Russian that’s like a long-lost cousin of the Irish coffee. All you need to mix the perfect boozy White Russian is coffee, vodka, Kahlua, and some whipped cream to top it all off for an extra sweet kick. Start with a warm cup of coffee, add a shot of Kahlua, half a shot of vodka, and stir your drink. As far as the whipped cream goes, a little goes a long way. After all, you’re having a drink, not a candy bar – but hey, who’s looking?
