Flavorful Low-Cal Drink Recipes for the New Year
A new year is a great time to try something new – and drinks are no exception! However, a new year often comes with new resolutions, too. If one of your resolutions is to be healthier, low-cal cocktails are an excellent place to start. And you don’t always have to sacrifice the fun or taste! Here are four of our most creative and delicious ideas for low-cal drink recipes that you and your friends can enjoy throughout 2022!
Champagne Cîroc Spritz
There’s no better way to kick off a new year than with champagne. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to twist your favorite champagne drinks to cut some of the calories without sacrificing flavor. Upgrade your classic champagne with some amaretto and lemon for a brand-new experience!
Mix 1.5 ounces of Cîroc Amaretto with 1.5 ounces of lemon sour mix. Shake well, pour into a champagne flute, and top with around 2 ounces of champagne to taste.
Lemon Ginger Cocktail
Ginger beer and ginger ale are popular mixers used in a variety of drinks, but they tend to be packed with calories and sugar. You can still enjoy your favorite cocktails and feel great with low-cal drink recipes, including this spicy and sweet lemon ginger cocktail sweetened with stevia.
Start by muddling fresh or candied ginger with 1.5 ounces of Bacardí Limón and 1 ounce of Lillet Blanc. Pour this mixture into a champagne flute and top with some ginger Zevia, a healthy alternative to soda sweetened with all-natural stevia extract. Some leftover ginger makes a great garnish!
Kombucha Champagne Spritzer
Many people who are on a health food kick have already discovered kombucha, an effervescent beverage celebrated for its gut health benefits. This kombucha champagne combo doesn’t only taste great – it’ll make you feel great, too, and it clocks in as one of the lowest-calorie options at less than 50 kcal per glass.
Peel half a lemon to make a lemon twist. Use it to drape it around the edge of your champagne flute for an elegant garnish. Then, simply mix 3 ounces of any flavor of kombucha (we recommend the classic ginger flavor) with 1 ounce of champagne for a bubbly treat at your next gathering.
Sangria is another excellent beverage to be enjoyed year-round, and many people prefer to enjoy sangria in the summer months. However, if you love sangria and want to include it in your start-of-the-year festivities, it’s easy to make it appropriately sparkly. Depending on the materials you use, you can also include this sparkling sangria in your list of low-cal drink recipes!
It may be more difficult to track calories with homemade sangria. So we recommend getting some Yellow Tail brand sangria and bubbles for this concoction. Simply pour 3.5 ounces of sangria into your glass and top with around 1.5 ounces of bubbles to taste. Sliced fruit makes a great garnish for this cocktail, too.
